well…

Wow i actually feel like blogging right now. long time no real talk :)

k so :)

my life has been preeeetty dang awesome lately. i’ve been very blessed:)

the play (Music Man) went AMAZING and i made a bunch of new awesome friends.

I earned enough money to buy a used iPhone, which has been great, it’s used you know so it only drives me crazy every once in a while with it’s occasional freezes :)

I have been a slacker at writing in my journal though… i used to write at LEAST once a day, if not more… (yeeeah i’m strange.) but now i hardly get to it once a week. which i feel guilty about..

k um, aunt cassity, boys are cute. i just realized it. and they have actually been paying attention to me, of all people lately. i feel so flattered. haha

K GUESS WHAT.  my friends Summer Moss and Ursula Valdizan and I have planned a fiesta at Aunt Jeanie and Uncle Von’s party house.  They are actually letting me use their amazing backyard for a end of the summer party. I love them with all my being.

lets see.. do i have any fun pictures to post? i believe so. i’ll go get them:)

These are suicide: third degree burn. never again. ;)

OH! i will post more of EFY l8er. but k i asked this total stranger (i thought) to dance at one of the awesome EFY dances. He’s like hey, Eliza Shumway, right? total and complete shock. how in the world does this cute (and hilariously funny in the variety show) kid know my name??? turns out he was in my fourth grade class when i lived in Springville for like 6 months in between houses. i was way flattered he even recognized me let alone remember my full name. wow.

K so here are some pictures from  efy. Inseparably Connected was our AWESOME company name.

well there you go :)

my brother is kicking me off so yeah i guess that’s all i can do right now :)

yours truly,

Eliza Ann Shumway

Three of the poems revised

Revision of: Gratitude:

I clasp in front of me my hands

As I, as a tree, sit silent.

My eyes close, my heart is open,

My cries I hope the Lord will hear.

I bow my head, ponder and listen,

For that still small voice that beckons.

I’m truly seeing as it changes me

The love it’s radiating.

My spirit is not quite as homesick;

My soul is refreshed.

I feel it and I know

He loves me.

I thank Him, my God, for my every blessing

Especially for his voice that touches me.

haha this one isn't necessarily totally true :) the first one is more so :)
Revision of: A Man: Wanted:

Male: 6’2”

Not too brawny, not to scrawny

Bar the beach blonde: brown or black is better.

Big, burly, bushy eyebrows

And bright blue beautiful eyeballs.

Banjo bangin’, obo, bass;

Looks best in Bermudas ,

And banishes badness.

Absolutely brave and bold,

Bona fide priesthood bearer,

Bubbly with babies.

Blue ribbon Boy Scout!

Bows his head, believes in beauty,

Brainy, not crabby, not bald.

Revision of Camping Trip:

Rain, hail, thunder and lightning

2:30 am, unpleasant bathroom trip

Colorful paper cups

Never could keep track of my own

Propane, fire and tree smell

Boy, am I excited to do the laundry

All kinds of food, cooked in the embers

Everything tastes better with dirt on it

Story time at night around the flames

Come on dad, was that supposed to be scary?

Cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles

They came out all this way just to get bit by mosquitoes?

Brothers, sisters, Mom and Dad

He’s sleeping too close to me! UG! Bad breath!

Green, brown, and flowers

Too much nature! Where’s my iPod?

Sleeping bags, forgotten pillows

This pad isn’t even soft! My neck hurts!

Scripture time, deep in thought

I guess it is good to get away every once in a while…

Beauty, family and God

That is what it’s really all about.

my poems :)

this first poem is about my cute little 2 year old cousin, Josh Ray.

IAMBIC POEM: Josh Ray

A little boy I see right there;

Three foot two, a head of hair.

With eyes of blue, they look at you;

Tiny feet, in shoes of blue.

What a beauty, lovely boy;

Took long to come, but what a joy.

This next one is just a silly poem from an idea that my online English teacher gave me for an assignment.

WANT AD POEM: A Man

Wanted:

Male: 6’2”

Not to much brawn

Dark blonde to light brown hair

Soft blue or green eyes

Plays piano, guitar or both

Knows how to dress up

Appreciates art and literature

Chivalrous, courteous, protective and kind

Silly at times

Spiritual

Eagle Scout

Proud and reverent, priesthood bearer

Loves kids

Hard worker, patient, wonderful and mine

Our extended family went on a camping trip to the Uintas recently. I just wrote a list poem about it.

LIST POEM: Camping Trip

Rain, thunder and lightning

Colorful paper cups

Propane, fire and tree smell

Stomach ache, too much food

Story time around the warmth

Cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles

Brothers, Mom and Dad

Green, brown, and flowers

Sleeping bags, forgotten pillows

Scripture time, deep in thought

Beauty, family and God

I wrote these poems because of an assignment on my online English class. This next one was the first. It’s about me. haha.

APOLOGY POEM: Can’t Do It

“I can’t do it mom,”

she said expiring onto the sofa.

“Oh, nay, but woe is me.”

She contemplated the great task before her.

“Never in a million years

Could I ever write

a poem.”

I originally wrote this next one for a Portuguese (Literatura) class assignment in Brazil. But hey, it was my work so i just used it for my assignment again here in the good ol’ USA. (i have it translated into English after)

CHANT POEM: Dia Novo

É de manhã de um dia novo.

Muitas possibilidades. Muitas oportunidades.

O que vai acontecer hoje? Vou estar feliz?

Sim. Vou decidir agora. É a minha desição.

O que vou sentir hoje? Vou sentir tristeza?

Não. Vou decidir agora. É a minha desição.

É de manhã de um dia novo.

Muitas oportunidades. Muitas posibilidades.

(translated into English:)

It is early morning of a new day.

Many possibilities. Many opportunities.

What will happen today? Will I be happy?

Yes. I'll decide now. Is my decision.

What will I feel today? Will I feel sadness?

No. I'll decide now. Is my decision.

It is early morning of a new day.

Many opportunities. Many possibilities.

ODE: Gratitude

I clasp my hands in front of me

As I sit silent as a tree.

I open my heart and close my eyes

And hope the Lord can hear my cries.

I bow my head, ponder and listen

For that quiet voice that beckons.

It comforts as I’m truly seeing

The love it radiates to my being.

My spirit’s been heard; my soul refreshed

I know I’m heard from the feeling in my breast.

I thank my God for my every blessing

And for his humbling, loving voice caressing.

Silly me.

Ok OK ok. when i said i didn’t think i had any performance-y talents i meant that i wasn’t a prodigy at like piano or singing or something you can easily perform at a talent show. I know i’m tolerant at some things. I really do quite like myself. so no worries :)

HEYo. my mom, brother Ashton and I got into a play. American Fork Community Theater is putting it on. The Music Man! and i got a solo-ito tonight at rehearsal in The Wells-Fargo Wagon song :3 (I got some salmon from Seattle last September.. or something like that is what i sing.)

I need to stop popping my knuckles so much. I know it’s not super-bad for them, but if you do it a lot, do you notice your grip gets weaker? Mine is VERY weak now. i’m constantly popping them unawares.

I went on a pleasant walk an evening ago and i took some pictures of the neighborhood. Some of them turned out pretty good. haha i can’t find my camera right now but when i do i’ll put them on here.

Heart prayer

Wow! I love the song “The Prayer”. In fact i love it quite enough to have 3 versions of it. Call me crazy, i know. I have the song sung by Andrea Bocelli with Celine Dion, Josh Groban with Charlotte Church, and also the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Is this true? If it is it’s awesome. I saw it on facebook:

There are weird similarities between Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. * Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. * Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. * Both were shot in the back of the head in the presence of their wives. * Lincoln was shot in the Ford Theatre. Kennedy was shot in a Lincoln, made by Ford * Both wives lost their children while living in the White House. *Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. * Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. * Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. * Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. * Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.' Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford.' * Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater. * Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

I went to see my friend in our school talent show tonight. He played his guitar as his friend sung Halleluiah. They did great. I love the guitar!

I always think that i could be happier if i was like… super expert at something like all the kids at the talent show were tonight. I’m definitely not expert at anything so i just need to tell myself i can still be happy even though i might not have any performance-y talents. I’ll just work on myself inside i suppose.

Glad!

Awesomely different day at school today. Even though none of my crushes were there. I think I can live though. We got out of our last class a tad early. The walk home was more quiet than it usually is because the many loud revving cars from the high school hadn’t hit the road yet.

I started a “tender mercies” list. In 1nephi 1:20 in the middle of the verse it talks about them. I believe in the tender mercies of the Lord and I’ve dedicated myself to writing them down every time i’m blessed with one.

Like, this morning, my alarm clock didn’t go off at 5:10 like it should have (hey i need an extra ten minutes ok? ;) but i woke up 10 minutes later to the beeping a construction vehicle makes when it’s backing up. I have no idea where it came from, but somewhere close by something was backing up at 5:20 in the morning. Isn’t that nice of Him?

Then there was that cute popular boy that went out of his way to say “Hey Shumway!” to me. He totally didn’t have to, but he waved his arms until he got my attention. My friend walking next to me had to nudge my arm to tell me he was trying to say hi. That totally made my day. I love it when people go out of their way to smile at me, or give me a hug or just say hi. It gives me the greatest feeling and i love them when they do.

5.15.2010

thoughts.

well that’s strange. I was totally in a melancholy mood right up until i turned on some of my uplifting music (mostly the RM soundtrack). I totally forgot about all the weird stuff i was going to write about. I’ll try not to remember.

It’s quite late for me. 10:11. but i took a nap earlier today so i don’t feel sleepy and i don’t want to go to bed.

we just got back from being up in Morgan Utah for my grandma’s 63rd birthday BBQ celebration. I ate my fill of clover clubs. (potato chips) bleh.

I’ve been on a spiritual high lately. With the 25 scripture mastery verses in the bag, i qualify for our seminary’s Excellence Program. I’m reading all these AWESOME *cough*self-help*cough* books. The 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens, What I Wish I Knew in High School, and of course, the Book of Mormon, which i just finished last week for the… 3rd or 4th time? I also have finally finished the Personal Progress Program for young women of the church, but my own personal progress will never stop. I like that thought. I guess breaking up with a boy will do you a lot of good, depending on what you choose to do with your crazy emotions. Put them to work, i said.

My beautiful and marvelous friend Danica: her sister got married. I caught the bouquet at the reception. Quite on accident I might add. I reached up for it and then the rose stems were separated evenly by my middle finger. I had caught it. hehe. LOoK at Danica’s little hat! (squished between our heads) it was so cute!
